Dolomites: Where the Time Stops
Dolomites - mountain region in the Northern Italy - has always been my safe space, somewhere to disconnect, to disappear from the world, even for five short days. I have always felt like time stops there for me. I don’t have to rush, to run, to solve everything like I do in my day-to-day. Instead, I can stop, observe, and just breathe. And it is enough.
Mountains do not ask questions. Where you are from, what you do, what your life goals are. There you are just a traveller, someone walking along the trail, observing the scenery. You do not have to perform, explain, apologize. You can just walk. How often do we have this privilege?
I like being there not only for the feeling of the paused time, but also for experiencing how small I am, compared to the world. You don’t feel this being in the city, being constantly surrounded by other people, buildings and life bubbling around you, in this sometimes overwhelming way. But the moment you are alone with nothing but mountains and vibrant green pastures around you (which do not even look real - I still cannot believe my eyes actually saw them), you suddenly feel so calm - and insignificantly small, in the best way. The same feeling you get looking at the starry sky - it puts everything into perspective.
I wish every one of you could experience this feeling, either in this place or somewhere else in the world - feeling of the place where you do not have to be anyone else but yourself.
